Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Teaching Staff & Professional Services staff with a relevant role and interest
You will participate in a number of weekly online tasks and discussions, with tutors from the Education Enhancement Team.
Completion of the weekly tasks and discussions will take an average of four hours throughout each week. Scheduled online sessions with your cohort will be included within this timeframe.
This module can be completed as a standalone staff development option to gain experience in teaching online, or as Part 1 of the accredited Teaching and Learning Online (TALON) module which forms part of Strathclyde's Programme for Academic practice, Researcher development, and Knowledge exchange (SPARK).
TALON Part 2 includes a summative assessment to evaluate the online course activities that you develop in TALON Part 1.
- Engage in online course activities from a student's perspective
- Experience a wide range of Myplace tools and activities
- Experience and develop methods to encourage online engagement and collaboration
- Develop understanding of and critically evaluate effective learning design for online courses and activities
- Experience and design online activities for both face-to-face and online delivery

Prerequisites
This course assumes that you have beginner level IT skills and that you have experience of using basic Myplace (Moodle) tools such as uploading files, using discussion forums.Participants must have completed the "Getting Started with Myplace course".
Cancellation Policy
When applying for a course, you should note that there will be a £50 charge to your Department if you cancel within 5 working days or you do not attend, and a £25 charge for cancellations/non-attendance between 6 and 10 working days. There will be no charge for cancellation made 10 or more working days before the event. Notifications should be emailed to TALON@strath.ac.uk
A Department is welcome to propose someone else in your place if they wish without incurring a charge providing that person has the necessary pre-requisites for the course. If you drop out of the course before the end date of the course your Department will be charged as outlined above.

An average of four hours for six weeks. Time of study is flexible apart from three synchonous one-hour sessions in weeks 2, 4 and 6 which are scheduled according to the availablilty of participants.
If when making your booking you see an error message advising that you have previously registered for the course, click on ‘My Bookings’ from the top navigation menu, then click on ‘Online Courses’ from the menu and cancel your previous TALON booking and then re-book your place using the booking link.
