As a leading entrepreneurial university, Strathclyde is ranked 5th in the UK for company creation. Strathclyde Entrepreneurial Network supports students, staff and alumni on every step of their entrepreneurial journey. As a member of SEN, the RDP Team is running is running this event.
Participants will learn a number of tools that help them generate ideas for solving real problems, respond constructively to the challenges they face, solve their problems and develop a flexible and dynamic approach to problem solving.
Absolutely everyone faces problems and challenges in the course of research and, arguably, recovering and resolving those is the whole point of research, as well as career or personal development. This workshop introduces people to a number of tools that help them generate ideas for solving real problems.
By the end of this workshop participants will have:
- Practical experience of (at least) five powerful models for solving problems
- Used a number of effective tools for generating new ideas
- Explored a powerful process for managing creativity
- Found several ways to ease the pressure of problematic situations
- Developed steps to take to change real problems from work or life
- Identified factors supporting personal creativity

All postgraduate research students are eligible to access the Researcher Development Programme workshops. This workshop can contribute towards the PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD).
You can find credit and class information in the Researcher Development Programme Handbook and in NEPTUNE (Engineering, HaSS) or SPIDER (Science).
Please check with your department or Supervisor to confirm if you are enrolled on the PG Cert RPD and how many credits you are expected to achieve if you are unsure.
