Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Undergraduates and Postgraduates
In this session we will look at some of the key principles of OSCOLA, the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities. OSCOLA is a well-regarded and commonly used guide to legal citation (or referencing).
After we’ve looked at OSCOLA, you should:
- Understand the key principles of OSCOLA as a footnote style with minimal punctuation, including how to include subsequent citations and incorporate quotations.
- Recognise how to cite key sources including case law, legislation, books and journal articles.
- Know where to look for information to include in the citation or reference.
- And know where to look for more detailed guidance on using OSCOLA – including guidance on how to use OSCOLA with reference management software.
Please note: this session will focus on using the Oscola referencing style.
This training is delivered online. We will send on access details in advance of the course.
Please email lib.ref@strath.ac.uk if you are unable to book online using this system.
