Is this course right for me?
Target Audience: Staff who are responsible for leading people, change, or process improvement initiatives.
Lean for Leaders is a course of training that focusses on process analysis and improvement tools. It’s a combination of training and practical mentoring. Each attendee brings a process to work on and is supported by an experienced member of the CI Directorate through the activity over several weeks – time commitment 3 x 3hr training sessions plus approx. 1 hour per week for 10 weeks.
Objective – By the end attendees will have improved their process with clear evidence to support this. We will have transferred a set of skills and simple techniques for the attendee to take back to their area of work and apply for the future.
The course itself is in 4 parts;
- Lean ideas β ½ day classroom session on the basic concepts of continuous improvement
- Lean Project Management β ½ day classroom session to introduce the tools to run a lean improvement project.
- Mentoring through the diagnostic phase. Approx 10 x 1 hour weekly sessions with CI mentor to work through the learnings from step 2 with the live project.
- Lean Leadership β ½ day session delivered at the end which focuses on the individual and how to behave like a leader in CI.
The output should be that in four months one of your main processes has been forensically examined, all waste removed, all improvements identified and implemented and you are reaping the benefits. In addition, the delegate will have the skills to take this forward onto the next process.
