Talking is good for your mental health. It’s as simple as that.

People who are more socially connected to family, friends, colleagues, or their community are happier, physically healthier and live longer, with fewer mental health problems than people who are less well connected. Staying connected is often more important than we realise, as a society and as individuals, we must urgently prioritise investing in building and maintaining good relationships and tackling the barriers to forming them. Simply spending quality time together is a good place to start.

World Mental Health Day 2020 is a day for all students and staff to unite in our efforts to improve the mental health of our University community. To celebrate this year’s World Mental Health Day, we invite you to attend our online ‘tea and talk’ Zoom event to help us:

  • Improve awareness of the significance of mental health as a global public health issue,
  • Reduce the stigma associated with mental health and,
  • Promote the positive message of support available within the University and local community.

On Friday 9th October 2020 from 11am until 12midday, support services from the University and Strathclyde Student’s Union will facilitate a Tea & Talk event on Zoom, featuring a special quiz to test our knowledge on Glasgow and Strathclyde, to get everyone talking. We would love for you to come along, take a break from your studies or work, treat yourself to a cup of tea and spend time connecting with others.

Please register your interest below. A link to the Zoom session will be sent via email nearer the time of the event. For further information about this event, please contact disability-wellbeing@strath.ac.uk
