Target Audience: Postgraduate Research Students in the latter stages of PhD, Research Staff

This course will provide active researchers with a practical guide to depositing their research data in Pure and how to obtain a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for inclusion in a related publication Data Statement. An overview of the importance of metadata and how to prepare data for deposit in ways which make it Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) will also be discussed. 

 

By the end of the session participants will:

 

  • • have gained practical information on preparing their research data for deposit in Pure
  • • guidance on uploading data to PURE including the application of appropriate metadata
  • • know why and how to insert a DOI and a data statement into related publications
  • • know what a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is and how it functions
  • • understand why and for whom documentation of research data is important

All postgraduate research students are eligible to access the Researcher Development Programme workshops. This workshop can contribute towards the PG Certificate in Researcher Professional Development (PG Cert RPD).

You can find credit and class information in the Researcher Development Programme Handbook and in NEPTUNE (Engineering, HaSS) or SPIDER (Science).

Please check with your department or Supervisor to confirm if you are enrolled on the PG Cert RPD and how many credits you are expected to achieve if you are unsure.
