Communicate with Confidence: Straight Talking - Online
As you grow in seniority, your interactions with colleagues and clients can become more complex. This opens up exciting opportunities but also poses potential challenges.
Difficult conversations are virtually inevitable in any work environment. Leading universities, which thrive on individualism but like to proceed through consensus, are no exception. What do you do when you have concerns about others’ performance, behaviour, forward planning or use of resources? How do you approach the interaction?
This half-day course is a practical and engaging exploration of these areas of communication. It will provide an opportunity for you to hone and build upon your existing communication skills, in a safe and supportive environment.
After the course, you’ll be able to get access to a course summary, follow-up material and the VOX Academy – an online repository of written guidance, lively videos and other resources to help you extend your learning and take your communication skills to the next level.
Among other things, the course will cover:
- understanding status and how to read others behaviour
- dealing with difficult situations assertively and negotiating successfully
- achieving vocal and physical presence
- exploring listening and influencing skills
- building confidence and clarity
- discovering ways to approach and engage others
