Target Audience: For those wishing to attract and host conferences and events at the University
This online session will give an overview of the venues and services available at the University for hosting conferences and events, and will highlight the support available to conference organisers provided internally by the Conferencing & Events team, and externally by Glasgow Convention Bureau.
You will gain an understanding of:
- The venues and other services at the University for hosting conferences and events - how they are best used for conferences and events, and when they are available
- The Conference Management Service which includes an online event platform ‘OnAir’, online registration, abstract submission, conference app and website
- The support available from the Conferencing & Events team, in terms of both event planning and event delivery.
- The support available from Glasgow Convention Bureau including conference bids, promotional material and requests for civic hospitality
‘Dr Matthew Alexander from Strathclyde Business School will talk about his involvement in EMAC 2018 which took place in TIC, and the forthcoming SERVSIG 2022 Conference’
At the end of the course, there will be time for a Q&A session.
Just under half of all conferences attracted to Glasgow are delivered at least in part by academics, Glasgow’s conference ‘ambassadors’. The university and city’s support services have never been better placed to assist and ensure a successful event. Academics, we have been proud to support, consistently cite conference activity as being beneficial to their research, connections with national and international institutions and industry, and profile raising at an individual and institutional level.
Delivered By: Lesley Turan & Katherine Boyling, Conferencing & Events, in conjunction with the Glasgow Convention Bureau (Glasgow Life), and Dr Matthew Alexander from Strathclyde Business School
